Uniform Resource Locator (URL)
The unique address used to identify the location of a webpage.
Unique Users
The number of different users visiting a website within a specific timeperiod that is measured by tracking technology or user registration.
Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS)
Alternate name for 3G services, it is also the name for the 3G mobile phone standard in Europe.
UNIX
A powerful computer operating system that is capable of handling activity from multiple users.
URL Tagging
A method of embedding a URL with a unique identifier found within HTML content.
Usability Testing
One-on-one testing sessions that involve actual users to performspecific tasks on a website or prototype in order to troubleshootproblems.
Use Case

A description of a user's interactions toward a specific website feature or function.

User
An individual with internet access.
User Agent String
The field in a server log file that identifies the browser and provides system details to web servers.
User Centric Measurement
A means of measuring an online audience that is based on the behavior demonstrated by a sample of users.
User Defined Reports
Reports that allow the comparison of visitors from defined customsegments. These segments can be defined by calling the utm_setvarfunction in the website code.
User Experience
Often abbreviated as "UX", it is the overall experience and satisfaction a user has when interacting with a design.
User Generated Content
Online content that is produced by the users themselves.
User Interface
The means by which users view and interact with the content of a website.
User Session
The activity performed by a user during a specified period of time.When the user remains inactive for more than 30 minutes, the usersession is typically terminated.
