Client Background & Needs

EMG Publishing's Healthcare Education is a division of EMG itself and initiated the development of these healthcare education and training resources. Identifying a need in the academic medical profession for interactive educational materials, EMG Publishing was looking for a way to support and extend the impact made by traditional classroom teaching methods, specifically on the subject of wound management.

EMG Approach & Solution

Produced and distributed by Earthbound Media Group, the educational Wound Management DVD series teaches wound healing using a “give and take” paradigm. Utilizing this approach, host Dr. Rose Hamm describes wound management as being “simple if you think of it as ‘giving’ the wound what it needs and ‘taking’ what it does not.”

With its immediate success among healthcare providers, the world’s leading publisher of science and health information, Elsevier, acquired the series for online publishing in 2007.  Together, Earthbound Media Group and Elsevier/MC Strategies then co-developed the Wound Management interactive e-Learning course that is available through Elsevier/MC Strategies.

The Long Term Care Wound Management Series includes information about treating wounds over a substantial period of time and features case-study photos, instructional videos, illustrations and state-of-the-art 3-D animations. Compiling resources from a team of experts in the field, each DVD gives users a deeper understanding of the evaluation, treatment, prevention and patient care of wounds and other medical conditions.
