IRVINE, CA- Earthbound Media Group’s (EMG) Human Resources Director, Norma Villicana, was recently quoted in a feature story for the October issue of local publication, Parenting OC. The article, “Woman @ Work” written by Allison Tong, quotes Villicana three times. Focusing on what benefits certain Orange County companies offer to working mothers, Tong explores the efforts being taken by these companies to entice members of this employee pool that’s flourishing once again due to our down economy. EMG is one of six local companies to be featured by Tong as being very “mother-friendly.”

Tong decided to contact EMG when she saw that the Irvine-based strategic marketing agency was named as one of the Best Places to Work in 2009 by the Orange County Business Journal. EMG offers many company-wide perks that are especially helpful to mothers. Some of these perks include personal laptops provided to enable mothers to work at home if need be and a 9/80 work schedule allowing mothers to work a regular nine-hour schedule Monday through Thursday with an eight-hour Friday and every other Friday off. Having every other Friday off allows for mothers to catch up on some of their motherly duties or just spend more time with their kids.

“I’ve been here for three years and having that extra time to take care of things outside of the office has made things so much easier at home,” says Villicana, a working mother for 15 years. “Speaking from an HR point-of-view, it also makes recruiting a lot easier too. So in essence, EMG makes both my home life and work life a lot less stressful.”

Parenting OC is published with the hopes to make a difference in the lives of children by empowering parents with information and resources to help them guide and help their children in the best manner possible.
