IRVINE, CA – On Thursday, September 22 several members of the Earthbound Media Group (EMG) team will be performing live on-stage for the first time together as the band named EMG Speedwagon at The House of Blues Sunset Strip as part of ThinkLA’s AdJam: Battle of the Agency Bands. The EMGers will be one of nine bands competitively rocking out against one another for the AdJam Axe and bragging rights for the year. All nine bands are made up of members from Southern California marketing/advertising agencies and all but the Orange County headquartered EMG are located in Los Angeles.
“As if the excitement of playing live on-stage at a prestigious venue such as The House of Blues on the Sunset Strip wasn’t enough to make us want to play our best,” said Project Manager/EMG Speedwagon Drummer Brian Lau. “Being the only band representing Orange County really adds to our eagerness to get up there and really impress the crowd with an excellently performed set that will bring the house down and capture the title of best agency band.”
Of the 13 agency bands to submit an audition video to ThinkLA; seven (including EMG) were chosen by the judges, another was voted in by the online community after the judges’ picks were announced and the defending champion, BLITiZen Kane, had an automatic spot on the bill to defend their title. The ThinkLA organization’s largest annual and perennially sold out event looks to welcome more than 1,200 industry friends and colleagues for a night of performing, networking and competing. After all bands perform their four-song set the judges will announce the top three finalists and the 2011 winner will be chosen by the audience from those three.
Completing EMG Speedwagon and joining Brian Lau on stage will be Lead Web Developer/Bassist Eli Burpee, Managing Director/Accordionist Ashley Matsui, Healthcare Client Services Director/Lead Vocalist Camille Strickland and EMG friend/Guitarist Costin Tucelescu.
