EMG Partners with the Ecology Center

August 21, 2008

IRVINE, CA – Committed to improving social and environmental affairs worldwide, Earthbound Media Group (EMG) has teamed up with The Ecology Center and its founder and life-long environmentalist Evan Marks to support the Center’s planning efforts and marketing initiatives leading up to its grand opening in late 2008. Since this past spring, a group from EMG’s Eco- and Social Responsibility Committee has been dedicating their time and talents to projects ranging from membership program planning, media kit materials, public relations and even a search engine optimized microsite.

Founded on the principle that people can make a difference and transform the community, The Ecology Center will be located at the current site of San Juan Capistrano’s Congdon House and South Coast Farms. The Congdon House is the city’s oldest wooden structure and was built in 1877 and the farm is San Juan Capistrano’s only certified organic farm. Marks envisions transforming the house into an interactive learning center that will heavily promote sustainability and eco-consciousness while empowering local citizens and businesses to collectively enhance Southern California’s natural environment.

Under the leadership of EMG Lead Content Developer Amanda Vande Brake, EMG’s Ecology Center project team is comprised of EMG volunteers from almost every EMG department who have also been assisting Marks in streamlining the non-profit organization’s critical business objectives. The team has been actively involved in preparation for The Ecology Center’s debut and are supporting Marks during his current activities which include strategically reaching out and partnering up with other green-minded businesses in the area to make a positive environmental impact.

“The ongoing support EMG has given me has brought my vision within reach,” explained Marks. “By having EMG take control in doing what they do best, I am now able to focus on other key facets of The Ecology Center to ensure that it arrives in a timely fashion.”

The meeting of the two eco-driven entities was set up by Ashley Matsui, who is not only EMG’s Director of Project Management but is also Marks’ cousin. Ashley recognized the similarities in EMG’s and Marks’ eco-conscious missions, and the EMG executive team agreed the partnership would provide EMG team members the perfect opportunity to continue to volunteer, cultivate support and spread green awareness throughout Orange County and the rest of the southern California region.

“It is a rare thing to feel truly wonderful about the work you do and how it relates to the world and its future. I am excited and honored to be a part of such a great venture with The Ecology Center,” said Matsui. “I look forward to a long standing partnership where both groups can complement each other in both social and business circles. And I love that they’re in Orange County—there’s nothing better than acting locally for the global good.”
